🌤️ Good morning, OBX adventurers! It’s September 16, 2024, and we’re kicking off the day with mostly cloudy skies and a high near 77°F. The east wind will make things breezy, clocking in at 20 to 22 mph with gusts up to 29 mph, so it’s a great day to enjoy outdoor activities while staying cool. Later tonight, expect showers and possible thunderstorms, with the chance of heavy rainfall increasing as the evening progresses.
A Flood Watch and Coastal Flood Advisory are also in effect, along with a High Surf Advisory, so be cautious if you're heading to the beach or out on the water. There is also a high risk of rip currents along the coast today.
Today is also National Guacamole Day, so why not pair that perfect guac with tacos from some of the top taco spots in the OBX? Whether you’re enjoying the views with your four-legged friend, make sure to check out these tips for bringing your dog to the Outer Banks for the first time. Town of Duck: Fall Nature on the Boardwalk
Join an educator from the NC Aquarium on Roanoke Island for a peaceful nature walk on the boardwalk. Two sessions available:

Corolla Wild Horse Fund - Event:
Premiere of "Winged Horses of the Outer Banks"

Where: Town of Duck Amphitheater, 1200 Duck Road
Details: A mini-documentary about the winged horse statues across the Outer Banks, with a grand reveal of a new horse statue in the Town Park. Special guest speakers and Riptide, one of Corolla Wild Horse Fund's own, will also be featured.
